COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Beast is a seducer - accomodating, complicated, powerful, dark and created to last the ages. Beyond this, it’s futile to attempt to describe Him. He will unveil Himself differently to each of His followers. The mark is in His constitution. Brewed with two-row malted barley, honey malt, and imported Belgian specialty grains (aromatic, pale wheat, roasted wheat, and Special B), hops (Magnum, Galena, Saaz, Hallertau, Tettnang, and Hersbrucker), brewing sugars (raisins, dates, blackstrap molasses, alfalfa honey, turbinado, and dark Belgian candy sugar), water, Belgian yeast and another hellion of a yeast strain.OG: 1.138

UPDATED: APR 25, 2024 Bottle from Latham Beverage Aroma: dark fruits, Belgian yeast, molasses, honey Appearance: hazy amber with a tan head Taste: medium sweetness, medium bitterness Mouthfeel: light carbonation, full body, creamy feel, long finish Delicious. 'created to last the ages' - indeed, bottle is dated July 2015, 9 years go and this is still great.

UPDATED: FEB 16, 2024 On tap at Capone’s in Norristown, PA. A 5.5 ounce snifter. 2015 vintage. Garnet colored pour. Creamy tan head. Sweet toasted malt aroma hints at toffee. Flavor upfront is rich and complex. Dark dried fruits, Demerara sugar, warming alcohol, resiny hops and more. Wow, incredible. So smooth on the palate, yet amazingly complex. Initially, the 18% ABV is subdued, but as the beer warms, it rears its intense bite. This is not for the faint of heart. Slow and steady sipping will get you through this.

UPDATED: MAY 7, 2023 Bottle, 2015 vintage. Dark fruit aroma with notes of molasses, candi sugar, honey, toffee, caramel and spicy Belgian yeast. Pours cloudy caramel colored with a thin tan head that has good retention and good lacing. Starts with rich caramel, toffee, dark fruit and molasses as well as having rich, full body and smooth mouthfeel. Finishes impeccably smooth with spicy Belgian yeast, honey and candi sugar flavors. Excellent!

UPDATED: OCT 20, 2022 How have I not rated this one! 2009 vintage bottle. Poured a mahogany color with a small sized tan head. This wasn't horrible, but I don't think it aged like I would have expected it. Shows oxidation with some cardboard. Getting dark fruits, some roastiness, and yeasty. I'll revisit with a fresher bottle if I feel like it.

UPDATED: FEB 1, 2021 2015 bottle. Dark amber with a tiny beige ring of head. Sweet aroma, raisins, malty, toffee, tobacco, boozy. Taste follows with the same sweet blend plus plenty of warmth. A bit sticky and dry at the finish. This has held up very well.

Lacho (171) - USA - SEP 6, 2020
UPDATED: SEP 6, 2020 Dark amber colored beer with little to no foam. Very strong aromas, prune and raisins. Like a port wine. Feels warm to the palate because of the high alcohol content. This is an extremely complex beer. Will probably never find this again.

Mr.Spooks (4978) - Tennessee, USA - JAN 6, 2020
UPDATED: JAN 6, 2020 2014 vintage. Layered, full of toffee, turbinado sugar, date, raisin, molasses, fig, honey, and black cherry--sweet, in other words--with a pencil-shaving bitterness on the back end and a deep, brandy-like liquor heat in the fade. Enormous, as rich and chewy and massive as you'd expect, but mostly manageable in small-ish doses; a full bottle alone grows to be quite a hefty chore.

fiery1 (4763) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 4, 2019
UPDATED: OCT 4, 2019 355ml bottle @ Matt's. 2006 Vintage. Pours a very hazy copper brown with a small beige head. Nose is potent barrel notes, brandy notes, with notes of Belgian yeast. Flavour is intense sweet caramel, dried dark fruit, and a rich boozy character. Full bodied, soft carbonation, and an intense sweetness with a moderate boozy character. For the age on this, wow, very impressive and holding on well.
