UPDATED: APR 7, 2024 Mooie scotch ale. Rozijnen, pruimedant kandijsuiker, eikenhout en vanille en turf. De sterkedrank komt subtiel door. Body iets minder viskeus dan verwacht.

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2024 Old Untappd checkin, April 2, 2016. Rich oaky malt aroma. Tastes of malt, caramel, some dark fruit notes, and scotch. The finish has a really good bite from the scotch and is fairly boozy. This beer is indeed a bastard.

ironprog (210) - Florida, USA - SEP 3, 2023
UPDATED: SEP 3, 2023 12 oz. bottle, 11.0% ABV, Bottled On: 04.10.23 AROMA: I'm first hit with strong scents of scotch, caramel, and dark fruit. Which is then followed by hints of smoke and chocolate. All-in-all, it is a very sweet scent that does its job in enticing your other senses to dive in and experience the beer too. APPEARANCE: Pours an opaque dark-brown with a medium-tall, dirty tan head, that dissipates slowly and has moderate lacing. TASTE: Sweet with predominant flavors of chocolate, scotch, coffee, and rum raisins. On the backend there are notes of black cherries and caramel. The finish is a bit on the dry side and has a hint of scotch flavor. MOUTHFEEL: Full bodied with a somewhat creamy, smooth texture, and slightly above-average carbonation. OVERALL: Over the years, I've tried many high-alcohol, barrel-aged, beers, and almost all of them are so over-the-top, cloyingly sweet. that I find it difficult to enjoy drinking an entire beer. Usually, I greatly enjoy the first half of the beer. Then my palate gets fatigued by all of the sweetness and I end up forcing myself to finish the rest of the beer, even though I'm not really enjoying it. However, while this beer is certainly sweet, I find that the scotch 'bite' is just enough to cut through a lot of that sweetness. Which allows me to continue to enjoy the beer all the way to the end of the bottle. NOTE: While I quite enjoyed the beer, it is nowhere near the best beer in its style and it certainly isn't the best beer of all the beers here on RateBeer. Therefore, there is no way that it should have a rating of 100/100 here on RateBeer.

ReuvenSmienk (852) - Houten, NETHERLANDS - MAY 21, 2023

kwik-lime (4878) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 3, 2023
UPDATED: MAR 3, 2023 Bottle from Beers of Europe. Dark brown pour with thin tan head. Rich chocolate aroma leaps out, with hints of smoke. Flavour of chocolate, caramel, coffee, raisins, alcohol, peat. This is exceptionally good and kind of mad that something like this, exported from the States, is significantly cheaper than so many bang average 4.5% IPAs brewed ten miles away.

Lawger (343) - SWEDEN - JAN 6, 2023
UPDATED: JAN 6, 2023 Bottle (BB: 24.3.2024): Pours a dark and clear reddish brown with big khaki head. Deep bouquet with lots of dark, dried fruits, rum raisins, murky driftwood, new rubber and wet forest floor. The palate has a nice balance, not overly sweet. The bitterness tends towards medicinal and there's a peculiar astringent quality, but all in all a very pleasant experience. This should age very well but is pretty great right now as well.

williamlantz (939) - SWEDEN - DEC 23, 2022
UPDATED: DEC 23, 2022 Black colour with a creamy head. Aroma: peat, whisky, oak, roasted malt, molasses, some soy, alcohol. Taste: roasted malt, rye, some caramel, yet quite heavy bitterness, liquorice, molasses, dark chocolate, whisky, oak. Full body. Burning alcohol.

chris__hartley (600) - Ontario, CANADA - DEC 22, 2022
UPDATED: DEC 22, 2022 It pours dark mahogany with ruby tinges; the head is beige and soapy that lingers. The aroma has notes of: peat, stone fruit jam, prunes, and fresh oak. The taste is lightly sweet that finishes medium bitter. The palate is medium bodied with medium carbonation; the mouthfeel is astringent with a long finish. Overall, it's the astringency cuts the heaviness.
