Here’s more information about the upcoming Boomtown Brewery in Hibbing (outside of the Twin Cities area). It explains the Eveleth/Hibbing confusion: The owners already are operating a restaurant called Boomtown in Eveleth, and the brewpub they’re planning for Hibbing will have the same name. I suspect that the Eveleth restaurant (as well as Whistling Bird in Gilbert under the same ownership) also will serve Boomtown beers. http://www.hibbingmn.com/news/local/boomtown-concept-coming-to-downtown-hibbing/article_66237d6a-103b-11e7-88ba-b75bf92657d3.html |
An update on Hoops Brewing in Duluth, with a planned opening "in late May or early June:" The taproom will be the second largest in the state (after Surly) but will not have a kitchen. The plan is to have 15 to 30 beers on tap at a time, and there’s capacity to brew 60 to 80 different styles of beer per year. Unfortunately for those of us outside of Duluth, distribution will be minor and local, at least initially. It sounds like it’s going to be a great addition to the already strong Duluth beer scene. |
Stone Saloon, the historically-minded St. Paul BIP, has changed its name to Waldmann Brewery & Wurstery. Hat tip to Chaz. Seems like the sort of place that might brew a kellerbier... http://waldmannbrewery.com/ |
A brewpub in Eagan, Union 32 Crafthouse, is in the works. From the "Managing Partner’s" LinkedIn page: "Union 32 Crafthouse - will be a unique brewpub opening in Eagan, MN this June. We will be brewing our own beer and making great food, as well as celebrating and selling other Minnesota crafted beers, ciders, wines, and spirits. Hence our name: Minnesota was the 32nd State to join the Union." I’m highly skeptical of the June opening timeframe. Hat tip to Chaz. https://www.linkedin.com/in/dan-redpath-85420bb7 |
Three Twenty Brewing Co. in Pine City supposedly is opening this summer. Pine City is north northeast of the Twin Cities, along I-35 on the way to Duluth. It may technically be a few minutes outside of my arbitrary one-hour radius for the Twin Cities area (if you obey speed limits), but I’m going to count it. Hat tip to nograz at the other site. http://www.threetwentybrewing.com/ |
Originally posted by islay I should replace "Minneapolis" with "Twin Cities area." Note that the actual post doesn’t say "Minneapolis" but rather "Mpls/St Paul." |
Originally posted by islay I’m really excited about this one. Thanks for the updates, islay! |
Originally posted by islay Location also is listed as Mpls/Hennepin County. St Paul is only referenced as a market area. Maybe Harriet hasn’t disposed off their stuff yet and is giving this a shot? Boom Island was suggested on the other site - might be a good guess. Maybe it’s Lucid’s old facility that they’ll sell with the Lucid name - but the claim of a pub at that site would be dubious. |
The "Location" label of "Minneapolis, Minnesota (Hennepin Co.)" is present only on the mobile version of the BizQuest site. On the full version of the site, "Minneapolis, Minnesota (Hennepin Co.)" is merely listed under "Related Searches." Other businesses with the same mobile site location listing definitively are in the suburbs (and not necessarily within Hennepin County). It appears that some business owners on BizQuest or BizQuest itself is using "Minneapolis" generically. I’m not saying that the brewery in question is not in Minneapolis proper, but I wouldn’t rule out other metro area locations. There are only a few possibilities based on the establishment year claimed, and not all of them are in the city of Minneapolis. I have no inside info here, and I’m not certain which brewery it is. I will say that it seems that the picture on the BizQuest site is a stock photo (from Sloop Brewing in New York, hat tip to SudsSavant at the other site) and thus a red herring if you’re trying to figure it out. |
its a coincidence |
