Outside of the Twin Cities area, in Goodview, Wenonah Brewing will be closing after Memorial Day weekend, due, they claim, to space and lease limitations. Hat tip to Chaz. |

Originally posted by islay This is how Creature Comforts operates in Athens, GA. $15 for a glass, a tour and includes 3 ’free’ drink tickets. This business model (unlike many) probably requires that good beer is produced?? |
An update on Broken Clock from The Growler: "Broken Clock will open to the public on Friday, May 19 for a grand opening. While the brewery is primarily a production space, Broken Clock will open for tours, tastings, and growler fills on weekends. Twelve times each year, they can attain a special temporary taproom license that allows them to sell pints." I’ll speak to brewery representatives when I get the chance in order to determine whether I’ll count it as an official taproom (as if anyone else cares). https://growlermag.com/now-open-or-damn-close-broken-clock-brewing-cooperative/ |
I’ll note that, after Broken Clock opens, I wouldn’t be surprised if no other new brewing company opens in Minneapolis proper in the next couple of years. Pryes should open later this year in North Minneapolis ("North North Loop?"), and I’m guessing 2018 for the Finnegans taproom downtown. Both of those are existing, operating brewing companies that are opening their own locations. Otherwise, there aren’t many credible plans on my radar. It has been a long time since I heard anything on the Cap’s Grille brewpub plan. Perhaps one of our resident Oakhold insiders can speak to the timeline of the Oakhold "taproom" / associated pub that may be in the works for south Minneapolis. All of the other Minneapolis plans I’m tracking seem to be dormant or otherwise unlikely to come to fruition any time soon. Of course, new plans can spring up, and occasionally places do open with little notice, but we may be hitting a brewery plateau in Minneapolis. Meanwhile, the brewery boom is only accelerating in St. Paul, the suburbs, and the exurbs. I’ll leave it to you to speculate as to why. |
Originally posted by islay Our focus right now is getting the brewery up and running, which is coming down to the finishing touches. We’re not actively working on taproom planning, but it will happen. Our current thinking is to be earnestly looking for a taproom space in 2-3 years from when we brew our first batch. Lots of factors will play into that timeline, though. The industry is pretty nuts right now and a lot can change in a short time - state and local legislation, localized market saturation, etc. |
The Oakhold tap room will be where you serve kellerbier, right? |
Minnesota Sunday Sales took away a reason for you to visit Hudson, but one step backward and two steps forward: There are two BIPs for Hudson: Aberforth Brewing ( http://aberforthbrewing.com/ ) and Hop & Barrel Brewing Company ( http://hopandbarrelbrewing.com/ ). The latter writes, "We plan to open our Hudson taproom in the Fall of 2017 just two blocks from the pier." Hat tips to Chaz for both. |

The Growler has some information on the Wooden Hill BIP in Edina, which "is expected to open to the public this fall." (Expected by whom? Cockeyed optimists? My "Double It" rule says spring 2018. Prove me wrong, Wooden Hill!) https://growlermag.com/wooden-hill-brewing-company-edinas-first-brewery-coming-fall/ |
